Imphal, January 28 2022:
Dr Khuraijam Ratankumar who was preparing to contest the Assembly election from Khurai Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket has resigned from the party.
Following his resignation, Dr Ratankumar also announced the dissolution of Khurai Block Congress Committee.
This comes after the Congress forged a pre poll alliance with 5 political parties-CPI, CPI (M), RSP, JD (S) and Forward Bloc and resolved to support Left party candidate RK Amu-sana from Khurai AC instead of fielding a candidate for the ensuing Assembly election.
Speaking to media persons at Kangla Sangom- shang last night, Dr Ratan-kumar said that he resigned as a secretary of MPCC and from the primary membership of the PCC and a resignation letter had already been submitted to Congress Bhavan.
Saying that he has been working for INC since the last 7-8 years, Dr Ratankumar continued that he will soon join another political party after consulting with the former office bearers of Khurai BCC.
Further stating that he will not tear Congress posters or flags as he has deep respect for the party, Dr Ratankumar added that he, however, is disappointed with certain leaders for conspiring against him.
Earlier, intending candidates from Hiyanglam, Kakching, Kshetrigao and Konthoujam had also resigned from the party after Cong released its first candidates list.
