Imphal, May 26 2013:
Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM) has conveyed its firm belief that the recent meeting between the general secretary of NSCN-IM Th Muivah and titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba would serve as a trend setter for posterity to reckon with to embark on the journey to mutual trust and cooperation between the Meiteis and the Nagas.
ICHAM statement signed by its general secretary, Ngachonmi Ramshang said the meeting between two prominent personalities of the region was a milestone which will not only promote brotherly neighbourhood, sense of belongingness, solidarity and closer understanding not only between the Meitei and the Naga brothers but across the whole NE States and beyond.
The assertion that the problems lying with the Meiteis and the Nagas will never be solved by the Indians but by themselves merited deep appreciation and consideration, the ICHAM statement said.
ICHAM is hopeful that such people to people dialogue cutting across political and communal lines would go a long way in bringing about lasting solution to the myriad problems besetting the NE States including the Indo-Naga peace talk, it said.
"The meeting has already set the trend for posterity to reckon with to embark on the journey of mutual trust and cooperation in order to let peace, liberty, justice, development and solidarity to prevail over misunderstanding, hatred, exploitation, injustice and jingoism, it further added.
