Unruly mob snatched away 'IM' cadres: AR

An unruly mob comprising of leaders of various social organisations had snatched the five NSCN-IM cadres detained by the troops of 5 Assam Rifles at Senapati bazar on last Friday.
This information was contained in a complaint lodged by Captain Ashish Takur of 5 AR.
The complaint stated that the five cadres Ngoulung Francis, YK Philip, Achan Thangal, Solomon and Posiba were arrested by the AR from Shorbung road junction at Senapati which was followed up by a raid at a house at Monday bazar in Senapati town.
One AK-47 rifle with a magazine, a AK-56 rifle with a magazine, 36 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one SMC magazine, one 9 mm pistol magazine loaded with eight live rounds were recovered in the raid at the house.
Some extortion documents were also recovered.
However, the five cadres were snatched away by an unruly mob comprising of leaders of various civil organisations, the complaint noted.
Meanwhile, four activists of KCP (MTF) including two women were arrested by police commandos in a counter insurgency operation at the Langol Housing complex near Shija Hospital and recovered arms and ammunition, an official source said Wednesday.
The source said that Thonglenmang Haokip (26), Akim Haokip (40) wife of Alet Haokip, both from Dongsun village, Senapati and Wahengbam Chaoba @ Asharani @ Asha (26) wife of W Tomba @ Shyamkanhai of Naransena Maning Leikai, presently residing in Langol were apprehended during the operation.
On spot verification, police came to know that they were working under Tomba, the husband of Chaoba who himself was arrested from his home when a raid was immediately conducted.
One 9 mm pistol with a magazine loaded with five live rounds and three Chinese hand grenades with three detonators were seized from the house, Imphal West Senior SP said.
