Workshop on organic black aromatic rice held

A one Day workshop on organic cultivation of Chak-Hao (Black Aromatic Rice) was held today at Thenmuol Community Hall, Churachandpur.
More than hundred farmers from the village attended the event.
The workshop was organised by Manipur Agro Producers' Development Cooperative Society Ltd Churachandpur under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Government of India and sponsored by MOVCDNER Department of Agriculture, Manipur.
Letkhogin Haokip, IAS (Adl Chief Secretary Dept of Agriculture), L Ruoivel Pangamte (Vice Principal Churachandpur College), Ph Rajendra Singh (Director of Agriculture Manipur), Th Joykumar Singh (District Agiculture Office, Churachandpur) and K Debadutta Sharma (Project Director, Manipur Organic Mission Agency, and Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation Manipur) attended the event as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Director of Agriculture Manipur Ph Rajendra Singh said black aromatic rice found in Manipur have sublime taste and are nutritious.
The Government has initiated steps to grow 500 acres of black aromatic rice at Chandel and Churachandpur, he said.
K Debadutta Sharma said that the Government is planning e-auction for organic crops by November 2018.Five six companies are ready to buy organic crops, he said and appealed farmers to sell quality goods to retain buyers and ensure their growth.
