Chandel, March 19 2019:
Alleging that there is a clandestine move to shift Model Residential School sanctioned under the MOBC from its proposed site in Khengjoi subdivision to Chandel district HQs, KSO has warned that it will call a 48 hr bandh in the whole of Chandel and Imphal-Moreh road from March 25.Opposing the alleged move to shift the school, KSO in a statement issued by its president Thangjalun Haokip said that the Model Residential School was originally sanctioned for Khengjoi subdivision considering the remoteness, poor transport and communication network and need for such facility.
The 'sinister plan to shift the school is unacceptable and offensive', said KSO adding that the Kuki Chief Association (KCA) is also against the alleged move.
Chandel district HQs has ample educational facilities while the hinterland and Khengjoi sub-division remained devoid of such centrally sponsored educational infrastructures.
Developmental scheme meant for Khengjoi sub-division can't be implemented in the district HQs.
"It is akin to snatching a piece of bread from the poor and giving it away to the rich," said KSO.
The Model Residential School should not be moved from the original proposed site in Khengjoi sub-division.
KSO and KCA will intensify agitation if the school is moved, said the statement of the organisation urging Government and authorities concerned to hear its appeal.
