SOP violators fined

Imphal, May 18 2021:
The Police Department collected a sum of Rs 64,600/- (sixty four thousand and six hundred only) from 183 SOP violators today.
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc.
to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,06,40,860/- (Rs two crore, six lakh, forty thousand and eight hundred sixty only) till today.
Despite the increase in penalty for SOP violators and various restrictions imposed by the Government in order to contain the spread of the virus, the public continue to break the guidelines.
