Hongmahn refutes

Reacting to the allegations raised by the chief of Thingjang village and which was published in the June 15 edition of this paper, the Hongmahn (Khongbal) Tangkhul Village Authority has clarified that the land which the Thingjang village chief claims to be theirs has never been a part of Thingjang village.
Since time immemorial, the said land has ancestral land of Hongmahn (Khongbal) village, said the headman in a statement issued to the press.
Alleging that Thingjang village has been encroaching on the said land for the last 4/5 years and encouraging poppy plantation and levying taxes on the growers, the head of Khongbal village said that despite repeated reminders and requests, the chief of Thingjang village refused to budge.
The allegations raised by the chief of Thingjang village is nothing but propaganda said the Khongbal village headman and urged all to extend their support for peaceful co-existence of different ethnic groups in the said area.
