Weeklong free children heart surgery camp to be organised

For the first time in the entire North Eastern India, a week long free children heart surgery camp will be organised jointly by Healing Little Hearts (HLH), United Kingdom (a charitable foundation), SKY Hospital and Manipur Heart Foundation, from March 3 to 9.The UK team, consisting of 14 members including highly qualified and experienced Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthetist, Paediatric Cardiac Intensivist, Perfusionist, Paediatric Cardiac OT nurse and Paediatric CTVS-ITU nurses will be participating in the camp.
The joint team will be performing 3 to 4 open heart surgeries per day throughout the week, and any child with birth heart defect (as little as 2.5 kg weight) will benefit from the camp.
Patients above 18 years will not be eligible for the camp and a routine heart surgery service of SKY Hospital will provide the operation at other times.
Even though the camp is open for all children below 18 yrs, special priority will be given to children belonging to BPL family or economically weaker section of the society.
All charges, from admission to discharge including operation charge, ICU charge, hospital charge, will be free.
Meanwhile, registration for the camp will begin from 9 am of January 16 on first come first serve basis.
