Imphal, June 14 2014 :
Welfare Association for Blind (WAB), Manipur has threatened to launch intense forms of agitation if police fail to frame chargesheet against the accused, who raped a 13-year-old visually challenged girl studying in Government Ideal Blind School, within June 30 .
Speaking to reporters at its office at Takyelpat, WAB President Moirangthem Henary strongly condemned the incident.
He said that the association would be compelled to resort to intense agitations from July 1 if the authority concerned fails to take steps to punish the accused by June 30 .
Taking a dig on school authority for suppressing the matter for many months, Henary said that the matter might not come to light had the media not reported the incident.
He also expressed suspicion that there might be many unreported similar cases in the school.
Henary further said that Government Ideal Blind School has been facing the problem of shortage of teachers ever since 11 teachers got retirement in 2011 .
Such unwanted incidents never happened in the past when strict rules were enforced.
Henary also urged the Government to support the victim so that she can lead an independent live without any fear.
