The International Nurses Day was observed by nurses in Tamenglong like in other parts of the globe today at District Hospital Complex with Dr Chambo Gonmei, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong as chief guest and Dr Namjupou Panmei, District Immunization Officer (Family Welfare) as guest of honour.
After lighting up the inauguration lamp of the celebration by the chief guest, the nurses pledged for deliver quality service to the needy even in chronic care to the people.
Senior sister Afang Kamei, Indoor Supervisor pledged the nurses.
Dr Chambo Gonmei, speaking as cheif guest remembered Florence Nightingale who served people with full devotion to her duty.
Nurse task is a challenging work, he said adding that nurses should assume the any sick patient as their own brother and sister and take personal care.
Encouraging the nurses Dr Chambo Gonmei, said that even if people lookdown on the nurse bear like Florence Nightingale who silently bore the insults work devotedly to the sick patient with humble, politeness and gentleness.
He appealed all nurses to be ready to meet even in disasters and try to work like senior nurses and try to maintain neat clean and won the best clean hospital in Manipur.
He also gave out the award of District Health Mission Society to some nurses who work enthusiastically like a doctor in the absent of doctor in the health centre.
The nurses were Pouthungliu at Oinamlong PHC, Agui working in Family Welfare and Lumjiana who is working in Direct Observe Treatment, DOTs in Tuberculosis department.
The indoor district hospital also gave out attractive award to active nurses.
Dr Achuina MO, Dr Pukrehe, MO and other staffs were also attended the nurses day at Tamenglong.
In the meantime, on the side of the nurses day Dr Chambo Gonmei CMO told the reporter that a medical board has constitute for screening the district level officers who are engage in MDC election for granting leave.
Officer who health is ill and want leave may come for screening on every Tuesday and Friday at OPD @ 1pm, he said.
