Imphal, July 09 2013:
Expressing concern over the reported deployment of heavy security in Ukhrul as the deadline given in the ultimatum served to the Government of Manipur for the transfer of DC Ukhrul nears, the Tangkhul Frontal Organisation has urged the Government to fulfill the demand instead of inviting the wrath of the people.
A statement issued by the General Secretary of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Mahirah Raihing pointed out that the Tangkhul Frontal Organizations served an ultimatum to the Government of Manipur through local papers for the transfer of DC Ukhrul by 10th of July 2013 citing allege failure of administration and non-cooperation with the social organization in all the problems faced by the Tangkhul Community.
On the other hand, the Govt seems to be unmoved and one can see deploying hundred of Security Forces patrolling the town and Mini-Secretariat before the last date of the expiry of the deadline.
The MR,MP & CRPF are all there for the rescue of DC while the whole Tangkhul people are kept at ransom, it said.
This act of the Govt is a direct challenge to the people, it said.
It pointed out that villagers on the border, who are asking for security, are denied security on the pretext of lack of enough security personnel while hundreds of security forces are deployed in Ukhrul when the Tangkhul apex bodies asked the Govt for the transfer of DC for his alleged failure in his administration.
It further questioned the motive of the Govt in keeping the very DC in Ukhrul and any secret plan thereof.
"The TFO is not threatening the life of the DC, all they asked for, is his transfer, nothing more," it reiterated while saying that it is very simple and the Govt can act just at the blink of their eyes.
