Imphal, November 07 2011:
The armed Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) has outrightly rejected the report that 11 of its cadres had surrendered to the Government.
Reacting to The Sangai Express (Oct 21) report that 11 KNLF cadres were among the 18 UGs who laid down arms, a KNLF statement issued by its publicity and information's assistant secretary Lunglen Sitlhou said KNLF or its armed wing KPA has no relation, whatsoever, with the 11 individuals.
Stating that none of its cadres had surrendered to the Government, Lunglen claimed some months back eight out of the 11 persons led by one SS Defence PRO Holkam had actually approached KNLF leaders to join the organisation.
In the midst of verification process, during which they were stationed at a KPA camp, it came to light that the 8 left UKLF on personal ground and wished to join KNLF with a vengeful agenda against their former organisation, the KNLF statement disclosed.
Maintaining that intention of the 8 UKLF deserters is against the ideology of the KNLF and as such their enrolment had been rejected, Lunglen contended that Rs 10,000 was handed over to Holkam as journey expenditure.
Under no circumstance had the eight earned the right to be cadres of KNLF, the assistant secretary clarified and affirmed that KNLF cherishes unity of the Kuki people and will always strive for sustaining the unification process.
KNLF's concept is not only upholding the cause of the Kuki people but also promote unity and amity amongst all the ethnic people settled in Manipur for ages, said Lunglen while appealing to all concerned to work with cohesion in order to achieve the common goal.
