IGNTUSU-RCM, TYCM condemn assault on accountant

The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union � Regional Centre Manipur (IGNTUSU-RCM) and Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) have condemned the physical assault of Elangbam Hemakanta Khaba (45), s/o of late E Angou Meitei of Awangjiri, Nambol in Bishnupur district working as an Accountant in the Hyderabad base company, Credential Engineering Company (CEC), while rescuing 32 labourers working under his Company who were detained by the ILP agitators of Koirengei Meira Paibi Lup on July 29 while traveling in Shaktiman truck towards Hatta Golapati for attending Eid-ul-Fitr, it said in a press release.
The release further mentioned that Hemakanta met the incident while appealing the agitators to release the labourers, but subsequently after knowing him well being a Meitei, the agitators without any consideration physically attacked him with cane stick in black and blue while burning down the Shaktiman utilized by CEC for the construction of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Centre Manipur.
The IGNTU-RCM being a university for the tribal, a Joint Body of TYCM and IGNTUSU rushed to JNIMS hospital to assist the condition of E Hemakanta Khaba, it added and continued that the eye witness proved the evidence is a life attempt, even though they identified his he belongs to Meitei community.
TYCM and IGNTUSU is not base on communal but stand for humanity at large, it maintained.
And lastly, the joint body appealed the concerned authority to arrest those culprits who involved in the incident and compensate the medical expenditure of the victims and vehicles burn down at the earliest and also requested to sanction adequate security deployment in and around the University campus to expedite smooth functioning of the construction process and relief from all threat.
