A complicated Neurosurgery case known as Surgical Cerebral Aneurysm Clipping was successfully performed at Shija Hospitals, Langol for the first time.
The surgery was perfomed by a team of doctors led by Neuro-surgeon Dr Ch Gautam, MCh on April 16 last, a statement informed.
The patient, Loitongbam Mombi Devi (60) w/o L Jugindro of Lilong Chajing was rushed to the hospitals' Emergency and trauma Centre in critical condition on April 15 .
On close examination, the patient was detected to have suffered from Cerebral Aneurysm.
Aneurysms is usually caused by congenital defects, preexisting conditions such as high blood pressure and high buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries, or head trauma.
Adults are more prone to the disease than children.
It is more common in women than in men.
Risks factors for aneurysms included smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and hypertension.
A cerebral or brain aneurysm is a cerebrovascular disorder in which weakness in the wall of a cerebral artery or vein causes a localised dilation or ballooning of the blood vessel, it added.
