IMSCOM observes 4th foundation day

K James, an intending candidate who is running for Congress ticket to contest in the upcoming outer Manipur parliamentary constituency of the Lok Sabha election conveyed that development is necessary for overall development and unification of the hills and the valley.
He was speaking at the 4th foundation day of Indigenous Minorities Socio-Cultural Organisation Manipur (IMSCOM) at Amity Hall today.
The event was attended by K James, who is also a social worker as the chief guest while VCC administrative secretary Rev Minthang Suantak and T Hauzel attended as special invitees and IMSCOM president Momsokam Bapui as functional president.
K James extended heartfelt wishes to IMSCOM on its observation of 4th foundation day and wished for success in its future endeavours.
Maintaining that he worked outside the State for more than 17 years, James said that he has come back to contribute something for his motherland.
He went on to state that he has decided to contest in the election as the people have shown him love and support and motivated him to contest for the MP election.
Maintaining that it is rather disheartening to see the deprived condition of people living in the far flung areas of the State, James added that he stated that he is willing to work and put his maximum effort to bring an over all development and unification in the State.
Meanwhile, IMSCOM president Momsokam Bapui said that the organisation was formed on February 28, 2015 adding that the objective of establishing IMSCOM is to bring together the diversed community so as to achieve a developed State and the organisation has been taking up several initiatives to fulfil its aim.
He stated that there are several ethnic groups which have not received any welfare scheme of the State Government which is quite unfortunate.
He further stated that IMSCOM has always been promoting the culture and traditions of different communities at its best level.
Claiming that there are 33 ethnic groups/communities in the State while some comes other unrecognised category, he added that IMSCOM will be organising a cultural exchange programme.
Momsokam went on to state that the project proposal will be submitted to the State Government soon adding that the organisation is planning to conduct the prorgamme for a month where people from different ethnic groups will showcase their tradition and indigenous values etc.
He further stated that IMSCOM has been organising Ningol Chak-kouba at Sana Konung every year adding that Ningol Chak-Kouba is another occasion which brings together the people in the hills and the valley.
He maintained that IMSCOM has urged the State Government to build a unity park as well.
