Sit in staged against CAB at Kakching, Yairipok, Jiri

Decrying the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 in the Lok Sabha despite strong opposition from several sectors on January 8 this year, several students, women vendors and senior citizens of Kakching along with CSOs leaders staged a sit in protest at Naohal, Lai Laibung, today.
During the protest demonstration jointly organised by United People's Front (UPF), All Manipur Student's Union (AMSU), Manipur Student's Front (MSF), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), All Kakching Student's Union (AKSU), Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) and several CSOs of Kakching, placards that read "CAB cannot be implemented in North East India" and "Communal politics of Indian Govt is condemnable" were used.
Speaking by the sideline of the sit-in-protest, JCILPS co-convenor, Yk Dhiren stated that the ruling Government in the Centre had been trying to suppress/wipe out the indigenous people of North East since many years through many policies of which CAB can be mentioned.
UPF president, W Second; UCM organisation secretary, Ng Deva; retd Head Master, PR English School Kakching, N Purnima and Joint Non Government Voluntary Organisation JNGVO, vice president, Ksh Satadari raised their voices against CAB and appealed all to endorse the 24 hour general strike called from the midnight of January 30 .
Jiribam: Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) also organised a sit-in-protest at Babupara, Jiribam against CAB today.
Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL), Jiribam, CADA Jiribam branch, Pari Puri Athouba Ningsing Lup (PPANL), Jiribam, AJARODA and Meitei Convention Jiribam took part in the protest.
Thoubal: Volunteers of Laimanai Youth Club Yairipok (LYCY), women vendors and populace of the said area too conducted a sit in protest against CAB at Yairipok Laimanai Thongkhong Keithel today.
The locals who took part in the protest assured to support any initiative taken up by CSOs against the contentious bill.
Placards that read "Withdraw CAB", "Long live Manipur" were used by the protesters.
On the other hand, a bike rally organised by All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO); Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM); Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD); Reformist Students' Front (RSF) and All Meitei Pangal Students' Union Manipur (AMPSUM) reached Thoubal, Wangjing, Heirok and Kakching today and raised slogans against the CAB.
The rally began yesterday with the intention to raise public awareness about the possible negative outcome of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) if it becomes an Act.
While conducting publicity and poster campaign at Thoubal Keithel, AMMSO general secretary Pusam Zabed Ahamad appealed the public to extend their hand while fighting against the said bill, which threatens the very survival of the North East indigenes.
The bike rally was organised to help reach the dissenting voices of the public to the State Government, he added.
