Imphal, January 29, 2011:
To bring about development in the society and make democracy meaningful, there is the need on the part of the leaders to encourage the public to interact with them and speak out their mind fearlessly, CPI (M) MLA from Sultan Bateri Constituency in Left ruled - Kerala Government Krishna Prasad has stated.
Interacting with mediapersons at the office of CPI (M) at Paona Bazar here today, Krishna Prasad said that to bring about change in the society interaction between the public and the leaders is very much essential and youths need to understand and join politics.
Observing that there is no solution other than political solution to the various issues besetting Mani-pur today, Krishna Prasad asserted that corruption in the society would remain until and unless the Government is sincere in its dealing with the issue.
He said that although the rate of suicide among the farmers who could not repay their loans was very high at one time in Kerala, there is no such suicide cases today after the Left party came to power in 2006.The Left-ruled Govt in Kerala has been providing 1 kg of rice to BPL families at Rs 2 and ensuring their participation in various Health Insurance Schemes that would assist Rs 30,000 to Rs 70,000 in a year for medical treatment.
Houses are being constructed for the homeless people.
Krishna Prasad pointed out that Kerala too faces the problem of unemployment among educated youths like in Manipur.
But the Govt there provides allowance to the registered unemployed youths.
More-over, in Manipur public have not been getting their due shares even for 2 or 3 PDS items, but in Kerala, the people have been enjoying their shares of all the 18 PDS items, he added.
