Agriculture Dept should make sincere efforts for farmers' welfare, says Agri Commissioner

Agriculture Commissioner, M Joy has expressed that students who are pursuing agriculture and allied courses should be inclined to help the farmers in the best possible way.
He made the above statement while speaking at the Farmer-Scientist Interaction Programme on 'Use of good quality seed for enhancing productivity and production' held at Farmers' Training Hall, Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong today.
The programme was organised by the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute in association with the Alumni Association of Agriculture College Imphal (AAACI) under the sponsorship of the Department of Agriculture, Manipur.
He further emphasized on the need of building a good relation between the farmers and agriculture departments to strive for a self-reliant State in terms of food production.

With regards to farmers' welfare, he maintained that the employees of the Agriculture Department need to work selflessly with dedication for the upliftment of farmers and to promote agricultural activities. To enhance the income of farmers, timely distribution of good quality seeds of seasonal crops to the farmers is essential, he added.
During the programme, experts and scientists provided valuable information and advice related to agricultural and allied fields.
The programme was also attended by Additional Director, Agriculture Department, Todinang Panmei; scientists and experts of Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal including Professor L Nabachandra, Professor Kh Ibohal and Joint Director of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Lamphelpat, I Meghachandra among others.
