BJP councillors urge party leader to take action

The BJP councillors of Lilong Nagar Panchayat has urged the party leaders to take action against an LJP leader for allegedly detaining BJP councillor Thounaojam Anil and sabotaging the safety of the Panchayat.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, BJP councillors spokesperson Maibam Joykumar said that LJP which is an ally of BJP at both the Central and State level Governments is trying to sabotage the BJP council which is the crux of the Lilong Nagar Panchayat, by detaining Councillor Anil.
He said, "On March 24, the Council received news that councillor Anil had disappeared after he was reportedly called out from his residence by some individuals.
The next day, while Anil's mother and elder brother were filing a missing person report at Wangoi police station, they received a message from Anil saying that he was at Changangei at the residence of the family members of Naocha, the driver of Minister Karam Shyam.
"The people who gathered at the police station along with a police team led by the SDPO headed for the said residence after receiving the message," he said.
Joykumar said that they entered the premise to search for Anil after taking permission from the police but Naocha and supporters of Karam Shyam began to assault the BJP supporters.
He further claimed that Karam Shyam, himself arrived at the scene and aside from threatening the SDPO, shouted at his men to thrash the Lilong Nagar Panchayat councillor and vice councillor.
Speaking at the meet, Thounaojam Asangbi, mother of Thounaojam Anil expressed fear that aside from creating a problem in the normal functioning of the Council, her son's life might be in grave danger.
