Imphal, October 24 2017:
The State Government has sent a formal request to the pre-sident of Manipur Govern- ment Services Federation to suspend the scheduled mass casual leave protest by the members of the federation as well as other employees tomorrow with regard to implementation of 7th pay in the State but the federation has made its stand firm and is poised to continue with its planned protest .
According to a reliable information received by The Sangai Express, Chief Secretary RR Rashmi sent a notice to the president of the Manipur Government Services Federation today, requesting suspension of the mass casual leave scheduled for tomorrow .
It stated that the Fitment Committee formed by the State Government is working out the modalities/ revised pay scales for the implementation of 7th pay commission' recommendation in the State and appealed to the federation to suspend the mass casual leave protest .
It also appealed to the federation to suspend the protest taking into account the well being of the Government employees and added that the Fitness Committee is working tirelessly for successful implementation of the 7th pay commi- ssion’s recommendation .
On the other hand, the Manipur Government Services Federation has declined to suspend its planned mass casual leave stating that the notice sent by the Chief Secretary does not contain any positive assurance about implementation of the 7th pay .
A representative of the federation told The Sangai Express that there will be no change to the mass casual leave tomorrow .
It may be mentioned that, the Manipur Government Services Federation, in an attempt to increase the impact of the protest, had already sent notices to its allied employee unions and departments .
Manipur Secretariat Services Association had also resolved to fully support the federation's protest, in an emergency general body meeting held yesterday.
