Committee flays Tamenglong incident

The election committee of Z Kikhonbou Newmai, an aspiring candidate for the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, has condemned damaging of four vehicles by miscreants on the night of September 20 at Tamenglong headquarters.
Kikhonbou is planning to contest election from Tamenglong (ST) A/C in the coming Assembly election.
A press release issued by the convenor of his election committee alleged that the motive behind the incident was to attack Kikhonbou and his supporters.
If it was the maquette for the upcoming 10th Assembly elections, it would bring chaos to the common people and political leaders, the press release added.
Narrating about the incident, it said that around 10 armed persons came at SUI Hotel and tried to get inside the hotel.
However, as the hotel authority refused to open the gates, the miscreants burnt down Kikhonbou�s Tata Safari and two Boleros parked in front of the hotel, it added.
The press release further said that another Bolero was also pushed into a gorge.
Urging the concerned to clarify on the incident the election committee also pressed the Government authority concerned to intervene into the incident and bring an amicable solution in order to ensure free and fair polls.
