Imphal, July 24 2013:
Tousem Village Authority has strongly objected the statement of Zeme Naga Council Manipur against the functioning of Tousem Primary Health Centre (PHC), Aben PHSC, Atengba PHSC, Namtiram PHSC and Taningjam PHSC at the behest of some official on June 16 last in Sangai Express alleging that not a single health worker was present in their stations.
According to a press note of Tousem Village Authority, the said statement is baseless and unfounded.
Tousem PHC has been functioning smoothly by Karuna Trust, a Bangalore based NGO with full sanctioned medical staff substituting the State-run hospital on the basis of public-private partnership.
Many lives of the downtrodden people of Tousem susceptible to a numerous diseases like malaria, cholera, typhoid, diarrhoea and the like have been saved by the timely medical treatment given by the medical staffs.
The NGO has done its great job to reach out to the people of the area, and apart from regular treatment, medicines are provided free of cost, it stated.
It then said, Tousem and neighbouring villages have never had such a medical facilities before.
Their presence is a boon and saviour for the helpless people of Tousem.
A memorandum has been submitted to the Principal Secretary Health, Govt of Manipur on this regard and he assured that Karuna Trust shall continue to serve as per local people's wish.
