Imphal, May 24 2013 :
The All India Tribal Students' Association Delhi (AITSA) and the Mongoloid Peoples Forum (MPF), Delhi, expressing apprehension on the virtual lack of sensitivity and the decaying secular character of the State Government, urged the Congress high command for change of leadership of the ruling State Government.
In a statement, K Zou, Convenor of AITSA and MPF said the ethnic Mongoloid people of Manipur are generally simple, honest, peace loving with a strong sense of respect for other religion while contending that the people, who are constitutionally categorized as SC/ ST /OBC and General, are now dragged into the sea of communalism, ethnic hatred, and suppressing the weaker section of the society, in the last 12 long years of the misruled of the incumbent Government.
While appreciating the role of UCM and other civil organizations in the recent incidents, AITSA and MPF also urged people to support the noble endeavors of the All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) .
AITSA and MPF condemned the demonstration of communal forces by none other than the State Government during the eviction of Kabo Leikai, Imphal.
Defying the law of the land, and selectively razing down three churches and protecting the adjacent Mandir, is nothing more than an act of religious fundamentalism, and sowing the seed of disharmony in the land of Jewels, it said adding that such insidious act of the government is definitely not in the interest of the spirit of Constitution, Secularism and Harmony.
It is truly shocking and unbecoming of an act of a state government of a national political party, known to the world, for its secular principle.
Dividing people and depriving them of their rights and benefits, including promotion on seniority is also indeed unfortunate and appalling.
The misruled of the government has demoralized the common public in various way besides tarnish the secular and progressive image of the Congress party to a great extend, AITSA appealed the high command of the party for immediate change of leadership in the state, if no immediate damaged control is taken up by the government.
There are several educated and broad-minded senior Congress party leaders in the state, who have a stronger sense of belongingness to the soils and the people, it suggested.
