Imphal, April 20 2018:
Ministerial staff of the departments related with essential services under Manipur Government will also join the ongoing indefinite cease work strike being spearheaded by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) from tomorrow.
Addressing a press meet held today at a location in Imphal, the JAC's general secretary L Biken asserted that an executive council meeting of the JAC held today decided to rope in ministerial staff of all the departments related with essential services under Manipur Government to the ongoing indefinite cease work strike.
He further conveyed that technical staff of all the departments and those handling the task of catering medical service to patients in the health department as well as teachers in the education sector will be exempted from the purview of the indefinite cease work strike in public interest.
The decision to rope in the ministerial staff of all the departments under Manipur Government was compelled by the State Government's failure to take up any significant step to meet the JAC's 22 points charter of demands including implementation of the recommendation of the 7th Central Pay Commission in the State.
The State Government even did not give any response to the JAC's proposal for a meeting meet with the CM by April 19 last, he decried.
Saying that the JAC was asked to wait for three months and then again for the Prime Minister's visit on March 16, 2018, Biken lamented that no initiative has been taken up by the Government to address the issue so far, but it is only playing delaying tactics to discourage the JAC.
He then informed that no response has been given to the JAC till date by the Prime Minister's Office although a memorandum in connection with the demand of the JAC was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Stating that the JAC has been demanding pay equitable to the pay enjoyed by their counterparts in other States as a fundamental right of workers/employees, the general secretary decried that the State Govt is not respecting the rights of its employees.
He also appealed to all the ministerial staffs of Manipur Govt to extend cooperation to the JAC's ongoing indefinite cease work strike.
It may be mentioned here that the JAC launched the indefinite cease work strike from March 22 .
