Institute of Development Studies organises interactive session

A team from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) Manipur along with Rising Youth Club, Ngaikhong organised an interaction meeting at the office premises of the youth club yesterday.
As per a press release issued by IDS, the interaction meeting was attended by Professor N Mohendro Singh, chairperson of IDS, Kh Yaima Singh, retd Additional Director (Education) and Judge Simon Thokchom as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
The expert team also interacted with Yanglem Prem Singh, Headmaster, Ngaikhong Model High School, who is a State Level Teacher Awardee.
They found that the Headmaster was working as Headmaster, class teacher and watchman, the post of which has been lying vacant for 31 years, the statement added.
The school with 500 students has only seven regular and the Headmaster manages the school with 13 other local volunteer teachers to fulfil the School Phagathansi Mission II Phase of the Government, it added.
The team also visited the PHC and requested the ASHA Workers to join the interaction meeting.
During the open session with distinguished invitees, school teachers and youth leaders it was pointed out that the Government should fill up all vacant posts in the schools.
The need for regular and timely attendance of medical staff was also felt among the team members.
They also urged the youth club leaders to submit a memorandum to the competent authority to redress the grievances of the people such as shortage of safe drinking water in the village.
