He added that when someone is brought to the ER after an accident, most victims are under the influence of alcohol and this makes it difficult to ascertain whether the disorientation and abnormalities displayed by the victims are due effect of the alcohol or caused by the accident.
Dr Palin advised everyone to not drive under the influence of alcohol.
Dr Gautam said in any accident, if the victims are brought to the ER within one hour of the accident, the chances of recovery are very high.
He also advised against using mobile phones while driving, the need to wear a helmet by both the rider and the pillion rider and using seat belts while driving.
A Devananda said even after various awareness drives and fines imposed upon violators of traffic rules, some people always break them and result in accidents and other incidents in which even the bystanders and those who follow traffic rules are at risk of getting injured.
The cycle rally was participated by more than 70 health enthusiasts carrying different placards on head injury preventive measures.
The rally covered different landmarks of the city and finally concluded at Shija hospitals.
March is observed as World Health Injury Awareness Month every year and 20th March is dedicated towards enhancing awareness about head injuries, causes and seriousness of these injuries.
