Ibobi on the offensive against BJP

Imphal, March 20 2019:
Asserting that Narendra Modi wrested power at the Centre by resorting to impressive but empty rhetoric and volumes of falsehoods in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, ex-Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi has asserted that Chief Minister N Biren is also accustomed to telling falsehoods just like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing an election rally held at Hapta Kangjeibung today, Ibobi called upon all the people to teach the two biggest liars a befitting lesson in the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
"During his election campaign in the State in 2017, Narendra Modi promised to bring a corruption free governance in the State in case BJP was given power and I was called 10 per cent", Ibobi recalled.
But the incumbent BJP-led Government is a Government of thieves whose commissions have reached 50 per cent, Ibobi said.
He then asked the State Government to come out with a clarification by tomorrow regarding collection by the Government through relatives and agents for every recruitment.
It was praiseworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to lift the protracted blockade imposed along National Highways leading to the State in the run up to the 2017 State Assembly election in case BJP was elected to power.
BJP somehow clinched power and the protracted blockade was lifted soon after as assured by Modi.
However, it turned out that the protracted blockade was imposed under a tacit understanding between the blockade sponsors and Narendra Modi.
It was a matter of shame that the Prime Minister restored to such petty and despicable politics in his quest to wrest power in the State, Ibobi remarked.
Claiming that there would be no second term for Narendra Modi as the country's Prime Minister and young Rahul Gandhi would definitely become the country's next Prime Minister, Ibobi ridiculed that BJP's promise to accomplish in 15 months what Congress could not in 15 years has turned out to be another big lie.
Noting that the BJP-led Government has completed two years, Ibobi asked if the Government has taken up any new project during these two years.
All they did was give finishing touches or painting of projects which were almost completed by the previous Government, he asserted.
In the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Modi Government sent a number of Union Cabinet Ministers to the North East States every now and then as if they really cared for the region but one would like to ask if any new project has been sanctioned by the Central Government for Manipur.
Although UPA Government's Look East Policy was renamed Act East Policy by the NDA Government, nothing has been done on the ground.
On the contrary, rural people of Manipur are given just 11 days' work in a year under MGNREGS which earlier guaranteed works for 100 days in a year.
The State Government is surviving on loans and it is like a patient on the verge of death struggling for life in ICU, Ibobi remarked.
