Imphal, May 19 2017:
With due approval of the Government of India,
Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi Road which has been already designated as
National Highway-102A would be repaired soon, stated PHED
Minister Losii Dikho.
Together with NHIDCL Manipur State General Manager
Sunil Kumar Sharma, Losii Dikho today made field assessment
of Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi Road as well as other major
roads which run within his home constituency (Mao AC).
People settled along the 115 Kms long Ukhrul-Tolloi-
Tadubi Road produce a variety of crops and vegetables
abundantly but they have no easy access to markets due to bad
transport infrastructure.
Even as Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi Road was designated as
NH-102A in 2012, the road has seen little improvement.
The
road properly developed can bring many hill villages closer.
The road would be repaired and completed within this year
before upgrading to a double-lane road and black-topping it.
Already Rs 64 crore has been sanctioned for repairing NH-
102A, he informed while expressing strong desire for the
NHIDCL to pay special attention on the road and work expeditiously
even though the same work must be halted during
some months when there is heavy rainfall.
NHIDCL Manipur State General Manager Sunil Kumar
Sharma said that they have set a target of upgrading NH-102A
to the level of a double-lane road through phase-wise restoration.
Repairing work of the road would be started within
a couple of days and its breadth would be expanded to 40 feet.
The Government of India has already initiated land acquisition
process for expanding the road, he informed while
expanding cooperation of all the people settled along the road.
