MCPCR not happy with dull policy for child labour, poor infrastructure in Government schools

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has said the Commission is upset over the alleged lethargic and irresponsible attitude shown by the Labour Department towards the policy for child labour in Manipur, besides it is unhappy with the present condition of infrastructure in the Government schools which also lack good education facilities.
The Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 is still far from satisfactory and the Acts which endow with child rights have also been neglected in Manipur, MCPCR chairperson A Nabachandra said at the inaugural function of a one-day sensitisation workshop on Right of children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 at Manipur Pres Club.
He said MCPCR is a body which monitors all child right related activities taken up by the Government Department and institutes concerned in the state.
Nabachandra said the Commission has so far handled 50 cases relating to child rights in the state, but added that the Commission is upset over the alleged lethargic and irresponsible attitude shown by the Labour Department towards the policy for child labour in Manipur, besides the commission is unhappy with the present poor condition of infrastructure in the Government schools which also lack good education facilities.
Several resource persons spoke on various topics with reference to child rights and Right to Education Act (RTE) at the workshop organised by MCPCR.
An interaction session was also organised between the participants and resource persons as part of the workshop.
