Corporators and Councillors join NPP

Imphal, May 18 2017:
Five Councillors and six members of Thongkhong Lakshmi Municipal Council along with one Councillor of Samurou Municipal Council, two Corporators and six Ward Members of Imphal Municipal Corporation and two members of Lairenjam Meijrao Gram Panchayat joined NPP yesterday.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, NPP State president Thangminlien Kipgen warmly welcomed the corporators and Councillors and said that it would greatly increase the strength of the party.
Praising the Corporators and the Councillors for joining the party, he said that trust is very important in politics and no task would be accomplished without trust.
He said that the time is ripe for political parties to start governance without being extra dependant on the Centre.
Speaking at the event, Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh said that all political parties, big or small, should respect one another and a strong political party is not determined by its size but rather by the number of votes, which is won from the people through trust.
He also expressed belief that the people would support the Corporators and Councillors who have joined the party.
Jayantakumar said that a plan for mass enrolment programme has already been discussed to increase the party's strength and urged the people to extend support and cooperation.
Minister of Tribal Affairs and Hills, N Kayisii said that the people are gradually beginning to accept the party and with time and dedication the party would become powerful while NPP general secretary (organisation) Khuraijam Loken stated that NPP Ministers have big roles and responsibilities in the new State Government.
He further expressed belief that the Corporators and Councillors who newly joined the party would emerge victorious in the by-election.
