Imphal, March 18 2019:
Disable Development Association and Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur extended monetary aid to Longjam Sanatomba, a differently abled person today.
The monetary aid was extended to help Sanatomba build his home, said the members of the associations.
Longjam Sanatomba of Samurou Naorem Chaprou who doesn't have a home has been staying at one of his relatives.
Advisor of Disable Development Association and president of Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur, Th Chandramani handed over the monetary aid to Sanatomba today at Manipur Press Club Imphal.
Sanatomba had applied for a housing loan and got approval, however, the money can't be released as foundation work of the house was pending, said Chandramani.
The monetary aid was extended to carry out the foundation work of the house needed for release of the loan money (housing scheme), he added.
Housing scheme is good but it lacks certain provisions to address and cover persons like Sanatomba who has no money for foundation works of the house.
People like Sanatomba, without help from others, will not be able to build house even if they got approval for the housing loan (scheme), he said.
"Housing scheme needs to be reviewed," he said and called for changes in the guideline or provisions of the scheme for the poor.
