ATDUM calls off bandh

The 72hour Manipur hill districts total bandh called by All Tribal Disables Union Manipur (ATDUM) has been suspended from Monday noon following an invitation by the state government of Manipur for talks with the union.
According to Momo Tantanga, president, ATDUM the bandh was suspended after the state Government around 9:30 am on Monday invited the union for holding talks over its demands.
ATDUM enforced the strike in all the hill districts of Manipur from midnight of February 17 protesting against the failure of the State Government to give any positive response to their demands.
Some of the main demands include establishment of vocational training centers with hostel facilities in all the hill districts of Manipur, decentralization of issuance of disable certificates in all the District Hospitals, Public Health Centers and Community Health Centers, appointment of disable ST candidates as graduate teachers under RMSA, increase of scholarship amount given to differently-abled persons.
Meanwhile, Momo Tantanga has also expressed gratitude to the people, particularly in the hill districts for extending valuable support to the strike spearheaded by ATDUM.
