Uripok road blocked

In addition to staging a protest demonstration at Uripok Naoremthong, Imphal-Kangchup road was blocked for some hours today demanding justice in the killing of Pravish Chanam .
The protest demonstration staged under the aegis of the People Action Committee (PAC) Against the Brutal Killing of Chanam Pravish was attended by different student organisations and civil society organisations.
Apart from a adopting a number of resolutions, Imphal-Kang-chup road was blocked from 2.30 pm .
Adoption of Cabinet decision towards entrusting the case of Pravish to CBI within 24 hours was the foremost resolution .
The second resolution says that Uripok-Kangchup road would be blocked indefinitely if the case is not handed over to CBI .
Chanam Pravish (22) from Uripok Achom Leikai went missing from a musical concert held at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh on September 18 this year and later his dead body was found to be have been disposed as an unclaimed body .
Later, a five-member team of PAC led by convenor A Pholen met Chief Minister N Biren where the latter assured that he would write to his UP counterpart tomorrow to hand over the case of Pravish CBI .
Following the assurance, Uripok-Kangchup road was re-opened .
Pravish's father Chanam Jugindro alleged that his son was killed by a gang from Manipur in collusion with UP police and hospital authority in order to take his body organs.
