Imphal, March 14 2018:
The Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister's office urging the Prime Minister to make an announcement to the effect that the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission would be implemented with respect to State Government employees and pensioners.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would open the 105th Indian Science Congress at Manipur University on March 16 before inaugurating a number of projects and lay foundation stones for new projects at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground, Luwangshangbam where he would also address a public reception function.
During a meeting with representatives of MGSF on March 7, Chief Minister N Biren reportedly assured that he would urge the Prime Minister to make an announcement to the effect that the 7th Pay would be implemented with immediate effect when he visits the State on March 16.IAS/IPS officers, employees of the State Judicial Service and Central Government employees have been already enjoying the 7th Pay.
As such, there is huge variation in the income levels of these employees and the State Government employees, said a source.
Even though most States where BJP is in power have already implemented the 7th Pay, the Government of Manipur is unable to do so, lamented one MGSF functionary.
The MGSF's memorandum submitted to the PMO urged the Prime Minister to fulfil its election promise on implementing the 7th Pay.
In case, the Prime Minister does not make any announcement for implementation of the 7th Pay on March 16, the MGSF would seek one final appointment with the Prime Minister.
If the Chief Minister is still unable to make an announcement for implementation of the 7th Pay by that time, MGSF would adopt a resolution to launch an indefinite cease work strike, said the functionary.
