RIMS cautions its doctors against private practice at home

The RIMS authority has reminded the doctors of the institute to desist from private practices at home, private clinics and hospitals since this is violative of rules.
A press note issued by Media Advisor RIMS said, there had been reports in the media about this unethical practice by some doctors.
In a circular issued to the heads of all departments, the Director had said that such cases will be seriously viewed and dealt with.
The RIMS authority has been issuing such circulars from time to time for compliance, and warnings had been issued to some individual doctors also, it added.
Meanwhile, students and teachers have appealed to one and all not to vitiate the academic atmosphere in the institute.
The students from Manipur were admitted in RIMS this year more than one month late, the press note stated and added that the teachers were contemplate to hold extra classes to make up the losses so that the students could secure good marks in the forthcoming examinations.
'In the past, students from Manipur used to secure high positions.
If the lost classes are not recouped, these students cannot compete with those students from other States' .
In a separate press release issued by the Media Advisor, the staff of RIMS held a condolence meeting today on the untimely demise of Prof K Saratchandra of Pharmacology department who expired yesterday.
He is survived by his wife and a 5 year old daughter.
During the solemn occasion, Director Prof S Sekharjit said that the taciturn Prof Saratchandra was a man of integrity who was devoted to his works.
The whole RIMS family was shocked by the death, the release said and added, the Director sent a condolence letter to the bereaved family.
The meeting observed two minutes silence for the peace of the departed soul.
