Kangpokpi, November 12 2017:
The BJP led coalition Government has once again succeeded in avoiding yet another likely intense agitation through negotiation and assurance yesterday when it finally responsed to the final ultimatum of Kuki Inpi and CSOs Kangpokpi over devolution of complete powers and functions of Kangpokpi DC and SP.
The Kuki Inpi and CSOs Kangpokpi had decided to impose a 36 hour total highways shutdown on NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) and NH-37 (Imphal- Jiribam road) from 6 am of November 15 till 6 pm of November 16 after the expiry of its ultimatum to the State Government on November 8 for complete devolution of power and functions of Kangpokpi DC and SP.
The decision to keep on hold the proposed strike came after Th Biswajit assured the Kuki Inpi and CSO leaders of Kpi to fulfil their demands within this month during a meeting yesterday.
Four delegates of Kuki Inpi and Kangpokpi CSOs met the Chief Minister in-charge in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen at around 2.30 pm yesterday and came back with the Government assurance to discuss in a public meeting today at KSO Sadar Hills Administrative Office building at Kangpokpi DHQs.
In the consultation meeting, the people once again kept faith on the BJP led coalition Government and decided to call off the proposed 36 hours total highways shutdown.
