Witnesses examined

Imphal, July 12 2016:
Four prosecution witnesses were today examined in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West at the ongoing trial against Irom Chanu Sharmila for staging indefinite hunger strike at Bir Tikendrajit Park in March demanding repeal of AFSPA.
The prosecution witnesses who were cross examined by the defence counsel and discharged from the trial pro- ceeding included the complainant of the case Sub Inspector of City police station Palmei Palmeichung of Keishamthong Kabui Khul.
The police officer is the prosecution witness number one of the trial case.
Hoabam Tombi Devi of Poana bazar, opposite Usha Cinema, RK Radhesana of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and Leiphrakpam Modhuleima of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Thangapat Mapal were also examined.
Later, the Court fixed July 26 as the next date of hearing.
It may be mentioned that Sharmila was pulled up by a team of Imphal west district police from BT Park in the first week of March this year for staging indefinite hunger strike there.
After her arrest, City police station took up a case under Section 309 .
Trial against her began at CJM Imphal West after the police station submitted a charge sheet against her a
few months back.
