International Nurses Day observed at Kpi, Tbl

International Nurses Day was for the first time celebrated at Kangpokpi District Headquarters despite of various limitation and shortage in the District hospital, Kangpokpi.
Even the sanctioned numbers of nurses are yet to be posted, nurses of District Hospital enthusiastically organized the first International Nurses Day on the theme "Nurses a voice to lead, Health for all".
Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship, KWWO, KYU, Kangpokpi Christian Hospital Mission Compound authority, pensioners and various other local civil bodies participated in the celebration honoring the sacrifice and service of nurses towards the society.
Coincidentally, the first International Nurses Day celebration at Kangpokpi also falls on Mother's Day for which the invitees and participants also presented special gifts to all the nurses of the District Hospital for providing motherly love and services to the sick and needy people.
Nurses of the District Hospital, Kangpokpi also paid tributes to the Florence Nightingale by lighting lamp while taking the Florence Nightingale Pledge to pass their life in purity and practice their profession faithfully.
They also pledged to abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug but do all in their power to maintain and elevate the standard of their profession.
"All mothers in every household are also not less than nurses for they are also a missioner of health to their husband, children and family members", said Lunseh Kipgen, Kangpokpi Town Committee Chairman while sincerely appreciating Nurses of District hospital Kangpokpi for the historic celebration.
He also paid utmost respect to all the Nurses and mothers of Kangpokpi on the occasion on behalf of the town committee, especially to the District Hospital nurses for organizing such historic event despite of all shortage in the hospital on the part of the Government.
Pensioner nurses from the District Hospital also lauded the efforts and sacrifice of all the nurses of the District Hospital for their enthusiastic efforts in successfully organizing the historic International Nurses Day celebration for the first time in the district.
The civil bodies and the health workers also wished for adequate infrastructure, man power and other financial limitation from the concerned department and the State Govt.Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship Chairman, Rev K Hangshing invoked blessing prayer for all the nurses while senior staff nurses and in-charge sister also spoke on the occasion.
THOUBAL: International Nurses Day 2019 was celebrated today at District Hospital Thoubal.
For the first time, the staff nurses of District Hospital Thoubal celebrated the day at Conference Hall of District Hospital Thoubal on the theme "Nursing: the balance of Mind, body and spirit".
The celebratory function was attended by ZP member, Khangabok, Kh Rajmohon Singh and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Thoubal, Dr Ch Memcha Devi as the chief guest and functional president respectively while Ch Basanta Singh, DPM, District Health Society Thoubal and Dr T Noren Singh, Obs & Gynae, DH Thoubal attended the function as guests of honour.
Sister Anita, while delivering the keynote address, highlighted the importance of observing the day.
Chief guest Kh Rajmohon reiterated the service rendered by Florence Nightingale for the wounded soldiers, needy poor and sick patients.
He appealed to the nursing sisters to render service with dedication.
Candle lighting, offering floral wreaths to the photo of Florence Nightingale, distribution of sweets to the in-patients of casualty, obs and gynae, general ward, and children ward were the main activities of the day.
Meanwhile, lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of 9th batch GNM Nurse students of Manipur Nursing Institute, Tentha was held today at NICA Cultural Hall, Tentha in Thoubal District.
The ceremonial function was attended by former minister, Wangjing Tentha AC, Moirangthem Hemanta; president, Manipur Nursing Institute, N Ingobi; Pradhan, Tentha Gram Panchayat, N Pradeep Singh and programme executive, Diamond Radio Khongjom, James Heikrujam as presidium members.
Congratulating the students of the institute for securing top position in the exams conducted by Manipur Nursing Council, M Hemanta said that it is a pride moment for MNI, Tentha which was established in February, 2001 recognised by Assam Nursing Council which is now recognised by Manipur Nursing Council.
The profession of Nurse is one of highly regarded and respectable occupation which requires dedication and care in serving the people adding that they are the first person to give hope to the patients who admitted in the hospital.
He further said that there exists special bond between Nurse and patient while adding that the Nurse can bring a lot of positive attitude and energy through their dedicated and selfless services.
As part of the function, the students of the institute performed different cultural programme and paid floral tributes to the photo of Florence Nightingale while modest gifts were also handed over to the successful students who secured positions in the exams conducted by Manipur Nursing Council.
One of the teacher of the institute, Merina delivered the welcome speech while principal of MNI, Tentha took oath of 9th batch GNM Nurse students.
