National Education Day observed in State

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Imphal organised a rally to mark the National Education Day observance to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad today.
The rally began from DIET Imphal, DMC campus and went on till IGNOU Regional centre campus Asha-Jina Complex, North AOC via PCTC oil pump.
Floral tribute was also paid to the photo of the late Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.
Regional Director of IGNOU Regional centre Imphal, Dr S Dilan Singh stressed the pivotal role education plays for societal growth and maturity during the programme.
Meanwhile, as a part of the National Education Day observance commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a one day seminar on the theme "The Present Trend of Education in India" was organized at South East Manipur Higher Secondary School (SEMHSS), Kapaam in Chandel district today.
Dr Gina Shangkham, educationist; N Ramo Singh, Assistant Professor, Dept of Political Science, SEMCO and M Birchandra Singh, Assistant Professor & Head of Dept of Education, SEMCO attended the programme as the special guest and resource persons respectively.
During the programme, resource person N Ramo Singh deliberated on the present trend of education in India while M Birchandra Singh spoke on qualities of an ideal teacher.
L Rijoy, Chairman, governing body of SEMHSS, W Alphonsa Moyon, Principal, SEMHSS and Shanoi Moses Tarao, coordinator, organising committee National Education Day SEMHSS also attended the seminar besides faculty members and students of the South East Manipur Higher Secondary School.
Shanoi Moses Tarao said that the one day seminar was organized as a part of observing the National Education Day to commemorate the 126th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal also observed National Education Day at the college auditorium hall today.
As part of the observance programme, teaching, non-teaching staff and students staged a rally on the National Highway.
