Imphal, May 11 2018:
Normal official works and activities of most Government offices were severely affected today as employees took mass casual leave as announced by the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) earlier.
Notably, MGSF earlier announced that Government employees would take mass casual leave on May 11 against the State Government's failure to implement the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
As announced by the MGSF, employees of Assembly Secretariat, Planning Department, PWD, PHED, Water Resources Department, Minor Irrigation Department, Education (S) and several Government offices located at different district headquarters took mass casual leave today thereby severely affecting normal functions and activities of the Government.
But the same agitation had little impact on both the North Block and South Block of the Civil Secretariat.
Incidentally, Ministers, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners, Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries have their offices at the Secretariat.
Nonetheless, MGSF, as announced earlier, is all set to undertake cease work strike from May 16 to 20 and they have even decided to lock Government offices from May 20 indefinitely.
On the other hand, the cease work strike being spearheaded by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has completed 51 days today.
The JAC too has been demanding implementation of the 7th Pay.
In support of the JAC's demand, employees of different Government offices have been staging protest demonstrations.
Similar protest demonstrations were staged today by the staff of SDO office Porompat, SDC office Porompat, Sub-Registrar Office and Social Welfare Office, Imphal West.
