National Deworming day held

National Deworming day was organised at Keishamthong (SCEM) Model High school today under the aegis of Chief Medical Officer I/W and Zonal Education Officer, Zone-1 .
Speaking at the function, CMO I/W Dr Kh Kulla Singh said, "The deworming day is observed at the National level and aims to improve the health of children and individuals between the age of 1 and 19 years through the process of deworming" .
He said, "Albendazole is totally safe for the children but care should be taken not to administer it to children or individuals who are suffering from fever" .
He further advised children who mised out on the deworming to avail the medicine on the Mop Up day on February 16.Sobita Devi, Headmistress of the school also spoke about the details and the procedures to follow regarding the medication during the school assembly and students were also provided with the medicines.
National Deworming day was also observed at Anganwadi centre, Shamushang, Naoremthong I/W under the theme 'Worm free children are healthy children', byManipur State Health Society.
Principal Secy Social Welfare, JC Ramthanga initiated the National Deworming day by giving Albendazole tablets to the children.
Infants between 1 and 2 years of age should be given half tablet or 200 mg and children and individual between 2 and 19 years should be given one tablet or 400 mg.
Commissioner Education (S) M Lakshmikumar Singh, Social Welfare Director L Nabakishwar Singh and Director in charge Health Services &Mission Director (NHM) Dr H Ranjit Singh attended the event.
