The CBI today submitted chargesheets against eight police commando personnel including city police OC in the July 23, 2009 Khwairamband Bazar shooting incident involving police commandos of Imphal West district that killed a former underground member and a young housewife apart from injuring five others.
In the charge-sheet, CBI charged head constable Herojit shot dead Chungkham Sanjit on orders from inspector Debendra, OC of the Bazar Unit of Imphal West district Commandos.
Sanjit was dragged inside the 'Star Room' of Social Time Emporium at BT Road by Debendro, Herojit, Toyaima, Bioykumar, Jagat, Md Imran Khan, Kishore and Makon Kanchung Chothe with the intention of killing him as ordered by Debendra.

Herojit while deposing before the CBI had said that Sanjit was killed in an encounter that ensued at the place.
Before Sanjit was shot dead, head constable Herojit received a wireless message from Mike-68 (Commando Bazar Unit control room) that at 9.55 am two unknown youths, one wearing blue jean trousers with a black coloured shirt and the other wearing black jean trousers with a red shirt had entered the Bazar area, the head constable deposed before the CBI.
He further told the investigating agency that two commando personnel, Toyaima and Kaiminthang Baite on mobile bike duty no.22 from Hao Bazar to BT road intercepted a youth wearing a blue coloured jean trousers and a red shirt at 10.30 am.
When they tried to conduct a check, the youth made an attempt to escape Toyaima grabbed him.
He flushed out a pistol and fired at them before running towards the eastern side.
In the firing by the youth, a young housewife later identified as Thokchom Rabina died and five other people were injured he said.
The commandos chased the youth running towards BT road and vanishing after entering the crowded market place of Khwairamband Bazar.
Later, with reinforcements a manhunt was conducted at Gambir Singh Arcade shopping complex.
The CBI, investigating the sensitive case that paralised normal life for more than half a year in the state submitted the charge-sheet in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West.
The then OC of Imphal City Police Station, inspector Y Munal of Rajbari, Palace Compound and OC of the Bazar Unit of the Imphal West Police Commando, Inspector, Hijam Debendra of Yaiskul Hiruhanjaba Leikai were included among the eight personnel charge-sheeted by the CBI to the court with prayer for trial against them.
The other personnel whose names are mentioned in the charge-sheet include constable Thounaojam Herojit of Lamdeng Awang Leikai, Lamshang, rifleman Ngangom Toyaima of Langpok Maning Leikai of 8th MR attached with Imphal West Police Commando Unit, constable Wahengbam Bioykumar of Kongpal Mutum Leikai, havildar Thokchom Jagat of 8th MR attached with Imphal west police commando unit, rifleman Md Imran Khan of Yairipok Singa Makha Leikai of 5th IRB, head constable Oinam Kishore of Yumnam Huidrom Leishangkhong Awang and constable Makon Kanchung Chothe.
They had been suspended from their services.
