Aishi village in Kamjong district celebrated 75 years of its existence Tuesday, January 5 .
Speaking on the platinum jubilee celebration of the village, Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA K Leishiyo said that the village is lacking development in all fronts.
During the 2017 election, he avoided campaigning in all Kuki villages thinking he would not get any vote as he was running the election on NPF ticket.
Even though he succeeded and was elected by a huge margin of votes, he regretted avoiding campaigning in the Kuki villages, he said.
Even though he got 40 votes out of 500 votes in Aishi village, he felt grateful to the people of the village for embracing him, Leishiyo said adding he will treat everyone equally and would work for all without choosing sides.
On development projects being taken up in Phungyar AC, the K Leishiyo, who is also the Chairman of the Hill Area Committee, informed that 10 Kuki villages out of 16 have been identified for projects under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide people access to clean drinking water.
Out of the 25 Anganwadi centres allocated for Phungyar AC which has about 150 villages, the Kukis have been given the majority share of 5 centres.
Villages that were lacking roads have been connected under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and further efforts are on to improve road connectivity.
A major road is under construction between Kamjong and Phaikok village.
Border road and a section between Kasom and Phungyar are also under construction, he said.
He also called on the people to unite and work together for peace and prosperity in the region and the State.
