Imphal, October 06 2009:
The All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA) has demanded the early inauguration of the 20 MV power station constructed at Jiri to overcome acute shortage of power, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
It may be noted here that the present transformer can hold the capacity of only 2.50 MV.
So there is the chance of explosion if overloaded.
The Association has also demanded replacement of the outdated machines and worn out wires.
It has been revealed that out of 100 percent of power supply by PGCI, the State Government is using only 60 percent and the rest being consumed by the neighbouring States.
The Association has termed this very surprising and unfortunate.
AJUCA further warned the Government to fulfil these demands at the earliest or face the wrath of the people.
Notably, the said 20 MV power station at Kadamtala in Jiri is yet to be inaugurated despite of its completion for a long time.
