HC Bar Assn to intensify stir

Pressing for further assurances from higher officials of Union of India and State of Manipur, High Court Bar Association has decided to continue its agitation for non-absorption of any Judge of the Gauhati High Court in the High Court of Manipur except those appointed from Manipur.
Addressing media persons in this regard at the High Court Complex, Chingmeirong today, N Kumarjit, President of the Association, informed that an extended meeting of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur was held at the Bar Office today.
The members present in the meeting deliberated at length the ongoing agitation and the demand for non absorption of Judges appointed from other States in the newly established High Court of Manipur and also for installation of the High Court with seven Judges.
He further informed that in connection with the demands of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, State Law Minister, Justice AK Patnaik of the Supreme Court of India and the Union Minister of Law and Justice Dr Ashwini Kumar have been met.
Apart from giving verbal assurances to the demands, they have not provided any written assurance.
So, the meeting of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur has decided to continue with its agitation which has been going on since November 8 last.
Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani was also present and spoke during the press conference.
