Disastrous two months : State calamity

Taking serious note of the series of natural calamities that have struck the State in the last two months, the State Government has declared a 'State Calamity' today.
An order to this effect was officially issued by the Chief Secretary .
The MORA Cyclone inflicted heavy losses from May 29 to June 6 due to landslides and floods, said the Chief Secretary and added that even precious human lives were lost .
Again from June 7 to June 12, floods accompanied by windstorm wreaked havoc in the valley areas .
Due to incessant rainfall in the last couple of days, heavy floods have occurred in all the valley districts of the State resulting in lots of damages to properties, infrastructure, agriculture, fishery and livelihoods .
Reports of damages due to the heavy rains are also being received from the hill districts .
The whole State is reeling under floods, landslides, windstorms etc for the last two months, said the Chief Secretary and added as such the State Government has decided to declare the disaster as a State Calamity.
