Installation ceremonies of Rotary Clubs held

The Rotary Club of Imphal conducted the 44th installation ceremony of the Board of Directors (2016-17) at the Rotary Multi Service Centre, Mantripukhri, Imphal this evening.
MLA of Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Kh Joykisan attended as the chief guest of the installation ceremony.
Rotarian L Manoranjan and Rotarian Ph Saratchandra were selected as new president and general secretary respectively for the year 2016-17 .
As part of the 44th installation ceremony awards were presented to outstanding personalities of the State.
This year the Rotary Sports Persons award was conferred to Olympian Laishram Bombayla which includes a citation, a memento and cash award.
Rotary Meritorious Civil Constable of the year was given to Namoijam Premjit, Rotary Traffic Police Personnel of the year to Ningthoujam Sharatchandra Singh, Rotary Nurse of the Year to Thounaojam Sangeeta Chanu, Rotary Fireman of the year to AheibamTombisana Singh, Rotary Journalist of the year to Gurumayum Gagan Sharma of ISTV.
While the Rotary Scholarship for the year was awarded to Chingakham Sanajaoba a class IX and Nonthombam Babalu class X of Lilasing Khongnangkhong High School.
Rotary Scholarship for the visually impaired students was given to Puthem Mandakinin and Sorokhaibam Khingba of the Govt Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat.
As part of the installation ceremony wheel chair was distributed to Aheibam Surbala and scholarship for noted singer was given to Sunita Nepram.
Souvenir titled 'Manipadma' was also released by the chief guest and dignitaries of the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Rotary International District 3240, on Saturday, held the sixth installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal at Imperial conference Hall, Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
Chairman and managing director of Babina Group of Companies rotarian Dr Th Dhabali Singh attended the ceremony as chief guest.
Salam Sachidananda Singh and B Joshi Kumar Sharma were elected the president and secretary of Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal for the term 2016-17 .
Vocational awards in four disciplines honouring the services and dedication in the field were handed out during the ceremony.
Khelen Thokchom, special correspondent of the Telegraph was conferred the vocational award in print media, Thiyam Ranjan, desk editor of ISTV in electronic media, Saikhom Merabai in sports and Laishram Isheihanbi in special category.
The award consisted of a memento and cash award sponsored by Rotary Club of Polo City.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Th Dhabali said the club has continually been rendering its services to the people and have received gold award for sustainable growth and development.
Rotary Club is one of the oldest serving club.
It was started back in 1905 in the United States, Dr Dhabali said adding that the club has over 12.22 million members across the globe in 200 different countries at present.
Rotary club has a total strength of 34,000 clubs.
The club's souvenir 'Polo new' was launched by the chief guest.
