Chandel, April 03 2016:
Anal Students Union (ALT) has expressed deep regret over the unfortunate brawl between Lambung and Mantri Pantha wherein a number of villagers sustained injuries.
While wishing speedy recovery to the injured, ALT in a statement said the incident could have been avoided had both the parties honoured and maintained the status quo of the disputed land.
ALT has urged the concerned authorities with whom the land-case is pending to investigate the cause of the present imbroglio and settle the matter to prevent further escalation of trouble.
The union also appealed to both the parties to remain calm and refrain from further violence.
Such dastardly acts, it stated, may have adverse impact on students and create fear psychosis among the people.
ALT has further condemned the cowardly act of some unknown miscreants who allegedly waylaid Lambung residents at Aibul Dam, Lamkang village near Pallel.
The union regretted that instead of working to restore normalcy within the two warring neighbours, some individuals are trying to incite communal flare up with their reckless act.
It appealed to every sensible person to discourage such misadventure.
In the meantime, a team of Naga people's Front (NPF), Chandel divisional unit led by its president Ts Molarshing met the village authorities of Lambung and Mantri Pantha today.
The visiting team appealed both villagers to exercise maximum restrain to avoid further violence and requested them to explore all possible means to solve the problem in a peaceful manner.
'The response we got from both leaders of the village is very positive and it inspired us that peace and normalcy will return very soon', Ts Molarshing said after the visit.
He also made a fervent appeal to the people of Chandel to refrain from spreading propaganda that might further escalate the tension.
The team included NPF Manipur State Unit vice president Ts Beton, MDCs namely KSM Matthew Maring, SH Manglem, NL Warngam and Ts Willingson.
