CM to grace Lui-Ngai-Ni, says HKL

The Hunphun Katamnao Long (Ukhrul Students' Union) Executive Council members led by its president Thotngaleng Chiphang along with Tribal Youth Development Foundation Chairman Lakpachui Siro met with Chief Minister N Biren Singh yesterday and invited him to grace the 2018 Luira Phanit (Seed Sowing Festival) as the chief guest.
The Chief Minister accepted the proposal to attend the opening day of Luira Phanit, which will be held from February 16 to 18 at Ukhrul district headquarters, conveyed a joint press release issued by the chairman of Tribal Youth Development Foundation and the president of Ukhrul Students' Union.
The Luira Phanit is the biggest festival for Tangkhul Nagas, and it is commonly celebrated by all the Naga tribes in the State as Lui-Ngai-Ni.
The festival is recognised as one of the State level festivals.
It has provided a platform as well as various opportunities to many talented artists to showcase their talents, it said.
The festival has become an important event attracting both National and international tourists, as it is marked by celebrating the colourful and rich cultural heritage of the Naga people.
The Chief Minister emphasised on the importance of working together for inclusive development of the State, the press statement added.
On learning about the slow progress of the current black topping work along the main road of Ukhrul town, the Chief Minister called NHDDCL authorities and advised them to expedite the work.
He also dwelled upon the importance of unity amongst the diverse communities in the State, which is a prerequisite for economic development of the State, it added.
Further, the Chief Minister advised the delegates to take pro-active roles in different developmental works which are presently taking place in the State.
It further stated that the CM also shared his personal Whatsapp number to the delegates and encouraged them to update him regularly regarding the progress of various developmental works.
The student leaders expressed profound gratitude to the CM for taking special interest in the development of both the hills and the valley of the State and further assured him to extend their full support and cooperation in the developmental works.
