'Special attention in hill areas needed'

Special attention should be given in hill areas by the authorities concerned in order to provide essential facilities to people living in remote areas, said Information Centre for Hill Area Committee (ICHAM) president N Rajendro.
Speaking at the seed-sowing festival at Saranamei village, Senapati district yesterday, chief guest of the function N Rajendro said, "Roads connecting hill districts and remote areas are still in deplorable condition.
There is lack of proper medical service centres, schools, potable water and other basic requirements" .
"The Department concerned need to look into the requirements of the villagers and take up necessary steps," he added.
Saranamei village is located 13 kms away from Tadubi.
The village which has a total population of over 3000 has no Government school.
"Every child must have access to proper education.
Through education, many problems faced by the people can be solved," he observed and added the State cannot develop until the hill districts are developed.
Rajendro said, "Saranamei is a very old village and to mark our respect to our forefathers who have lived here, the memorial site and the waiting shed located at the village will be repaired.
